Royal Wedding

I set my alarm for 1:30 am and crawled out of bed to the couch to watch CBC's coverage. I stayed awake through the arrival of the guests to the vows. Then, the hymns and other bits lulled me back to sleep. The trumpet prelude to "God Save the Queen" startled me from my slumber in time to see the end of the proceedings and procession to Buckingham Palace. More sleep, but awoke in time for the not-to-be-missed balcony scene!


Meaghan woke up just before the balcony scene. She quickly bored of the talking, but pepped up when everyone walked out onto the balcony. She remained rather indifferent to the two kisses.


Later in the afternoon, we headed to my sister's house to watch the wedding again with kids, and our parents. All the kids quickly lost interest, but we enjoyed ourselves. 


The highlights included the girls in fancy dress, including a modified fascinator, with  matching bracelet:

the coverage with fast forward, 

and of course, the food:

Chocolate Biscuit Cake. Diana made this for William when he was younger. He requested that it be served at the wedding reception. Obviously, his cake was larger and fancier than mine, but professionals made his and it needed to feed hundreds; I fed less than a dozen.

The evening would not have been complete without our Prince William Champagne

Eamon didn't care about the wedding, but he enjoyed the food.

So until the Coronation....
