Two on Tuesday: March 11

At long last spring has arrived. After the last few months of wearing toques, the ability to leave them behind when going out can't help but accentuate the sounds of spring. Today, I bring you my two favourite sounds of spring:

1. The crack after stepping on the morning ice that formed overnight on puddles everywhere. Nothing is more satisfying than stepping onto the ice, feeling it give way and hearing the sound of it breaking in the moment before your foot is in the puddle.

2. After the sun comes out and all that ice starts to melt, the sound of water running down the street and pouring into the city's drains. That sound washes away winter.
