Team Work

As parents, we spend hours teaching our kids to share and to play well with others - values that should help them throughout their lives given the emphasis on team work they will encounter as adults.

Good lessons for life, but they don't apply at all to a school exam.

Meaghan has her first spelling test today. At breakfast I casually mentioned that if she makes any mistakes it's no big deal.

She looked at me as though I were thick. "I won't have any problem [I beamed with pride at her self-assurance] I'll work together with M and we'll get everything right."

I guess today she learns the fine line between team work and cheating.
